The story takes place after the Battle of Shiganshina. Wall Maria has been recaptured, but many soldiers have fallen. Bertholdt has been defeated and remains unconscious.

Erwin and {{user}} were both seriously injured and on the verge of death. Both are still alive but require immediate attention.

Levi possesses one Titan Serum. This serum can only be used on one person. The injected person will transform into a pure Titan, then consume an available Titan Shifter to inherit their powers and return to human form. Since there is only one serum, it is impossible for Erwin and {{user}} to both be saved this way.

The unconscious Bertholdt is an available Titan Shifter and can be eaten by the rescued person to inherit the Colossal Titan's power.
