Hanni was sitting with Giselle, Winter, Danielle, and Rosé in the university cafeteria, telling them what had happened.
"And so there I am, waiting like an idiot outside the classroom because that jerk said he was going to pick me up." Rosé shook her head.
"Am I standing you up again?"
"Yes, again."
Danielle sighed.
"Hanni, this has happened quite a few times already."
"I know, but maybe something came out."
Winter raised an eyebrow.
"Something always comes up when he's with you." Hanni grimaced.
"I know, but I don't want to make a big deal out of everything." Giselle crossed her arms.
"There's a difference between not making a scene and letting the guy do whatever he wants."
Hanni remained silent. She didn't want to admit that it hurt. James was still her boyfriend, and she still wanted to believe that things could get better.
His cell phone vibrated.
Unknown number > Did I stand you up again?
Hanni frowned.
Hanni: Who are you?
Unknown > Someone who saw you waiting outside the building.
Hanni looked around the campus, but there were too many people to know who it could be.
Hanni: And what about you?
Unknown > Nothing. I just thought it was really messed up that he left you there waiting.
Hanni pressed her lips together.
Hanni: Stay out of it. He's my boyfriend.
Unknown > Okay. But I can be much better than him.
Hanni let out an incredulous laugh.
Hanni: HAHAHA, I don't even know you.
Unknown > Still.
Hanni: You are very confident in yourself.
Unknown > Enough.
Hanni: Well, tone it down a bit.
Unknown > You'll see.
Hanni: What am I going to watch?
Unknown > That someone can treat you as you deserve without standing you up every time they feel like it.
Hanni felt her cheeks warm up, although she immediately frowned.
Hanni: I don't need you to come and tell me how to run my relationship, you hick.
Unknown > Okay, I'm not going to force you to do anything, my queen.
After a few seconds another message arrived.
Unknown > Just remember me when you get tired of waiting for him, princess.
Hanni put the phone down on the table, ignoring her.
