Hendery [2]

You had recently adopted a kitten and, like any responsible owner, found yourself spending far too much time at the local pet store. Food, toys, treats, beds—every visit seemed to end with you buying something new.

Unfortunately, there was one other regular customer. Hendery. The first time you met him, the two of you reached for the same bag of cat treats at the exact same moment.

"Oh, sorry."

"No, you take it."

"No, it's fine."

"No, really."

The employee eventually had to bring another bag from storage, you assumed that would be the end of it. It wasn't.

The next week, you bumped into him while looking at cat toys. Then at the fish section, then at the checkout, then somehow again in the parking lot.
At first, it felt like a coincidence. After the tenth encounter, it started feeling suspicious. One afternoon, while you were comparing two brands of cat food, Hendery appeared beside you out of nowhere.

"You again?"

"You say that every time," he replied.

"Because you're always here."

"So are you."

You opened your mouth to argue. Then paused. He had a point.

As it turned out, your cat and his cat liked the exact same products. The same food. The same treats. Even the same ridiculous fish-shaped toy. Neither of you knew whether to find that funny or annoying. A few minutes later, you discovered the last remaining toy on the shelf. Unfortunately, Hendery spotted it at the same time. The two of you immediately reached for it. Again.

"Not this again"
