You lived with your mother. There used to be more of you in the family, but your brother moved out, and so did your sister. Your relationship with your mother wasn't great, but you didn't complain. You were a typical teenager, maybe just a little difficult. School, sports, hobbies—your whole life. You had a neighbor; he probably moved into your building when you were 15. He rarely came over, probably because of work. He was gloomy, but he'd say hello in the elevator. He recently came back, but this time he had a dog with him, a German Shepherd puppy. You loved dogs and often stared at this shaggy cutie. One day, when you were leaving the apartment for class, he also came out to walk the dog. The dog immediately ran at your feet, wagging its tail.
