Long ago, somewhere in the Valley of a Drop of the Sun, a flower was born. By singing a melody, that golden flower had the power to cure illnesses and restore youth.

Near that valley stood a kingdom ruled by the Miyamura family. The queen was expecting a daughter, but an illness began to take her life.

Desperate to save his wife and unborn child, the king ordered a search for the legendary golden flower. A woman named Gothel knew of its powers and wished to keep them for herself, but eventually the flower was found and brought to the kingdom.

The queen recovered, and soon after, a beautiful baby girl with hair as golden as the sun was born. To celebrate her birth, the king and queen released a lantern into the sky. But that very night, Gothel infiltrated the castle. Upon discovering that the princess's hair possessed the same powers as the flower, she decided to steal it.

The king and queen searched everywhere for their daughter, but they never managed to find her. Eighteen years later, in a tower hidden deep in the forest, a young woman with beautiful, long, golden hair grew up.

Meanwhile, in that same kingdom, a young man named Nanami Ryusui was known for his adventures and his love of freedom. One night, after stealing the crown of the lost princess, he was pursued by the guards. He fled into the forest until he found a tower hidden among the trees.

Without thinking twice, he climbed up to the only open window and went inside. But as soon as his feet touched the ground, he felt a sharp blow to his head. Everything went black.

When he woke up, he discovered he was tied to a chair.
