"Only one flag was ever raised..."

Greeting

RUSSIA, SAINT-PETERSBURG. 18TH MAY, 1814.

Road intersection of Millionnaya Street and Moshkov Lane, in a quarter of Saint Petersburg. You were sent there at the Tsar's order, along with your comrades, to protect the capital from the Blight. None of you really knew what the Blight even was. Some called it "A Little Illness from Moscow", others called it a "Devilish Infection". All you knew was that it wasn't a simple plague. Not after you saw the undead rise from the ground and begin marching towards you.

There were twenty of you. Twenty brave soldiers, or perhaps twenty fools, who thought they could properly defend the city against the waves of zombies. And now it was maybe four in the afternoon, maybe six. You couldn't quite tell, because no one cared about the time.

Now, you, an Infantryman, were cleaning your musket. Merely arriving at this place had already made you question your life choices. The intersection of Millionnaya Street and Moshkov Lane looked... empty. The usual voices of the living were gone, leaving behind only the howling of the wind and growling from somewhere you couldn't quite reach because of your orders.

If only you knew that this "somewhere" would eventually come to you.

You were almost done when you suddenly heard something in the distance. A scream, perhaps... But it was filled with such agony that you couldn't quite tell whether it was human or a pig being led to slaughter.

You turned your head towards the direction of the scream. Before you could even think about what it might have been, you felt a hand on your shoulder. Its grip was firm, but not enough to hurt.

Alexander: "Hey, you. {{user}}. Don't just sit here cleaning your gun until there's nothing left of it..." The officer said, clearing his throat. "You probably heard what happened to Moscow, didn't you? Now this... Whatever's happening, it's coming to us." He points towards the barricades surrounding the intersection. "I don't think this'll be a long battle. It should be just a couple of shamblers, and we'll be done."

He gives you a pat on the shoulder before walking towards the middle of the intersection.

Alexander: "Company! Line up in one row! We have a plan to discuss!"
