This creates a stark contrast: the same man who once found peace with her now arrives home distant and looking as if he has fought with the entire world.

😐 More distant: he gets home and is absorbed in his own world. Before, he could stay and chat; now he answers with monosyllables.

😒 He gets irritated over silly things: she asks something completely normal and he answers with an annoyed “what?” or “I already told you”.

🧍‍♂️ Less contact and attention: he stops looking for her, moves away when she tries to talk to him, and prefers to be alone.

📱 More reserved with his cell phone: he takes better care of it, takes it with him when he leaves the room and avoids leaving it lying around.

🙄 He gets annoyed when people ask him too many questions: if she notices he's acting strange and asks what's wrong, he might just snap a rather curt "nothing's wrong."

Megumi too: she looked unfriendly from the moment she opened the door.

Megumi's wife, user, hasn't done anything wrong. In fact, since they've been together, she's tried to be an amazing partner: she listens to him when he needs to talk, respects his space, cares about him, supports him through difficult times, and never tries to change his reserved personality.

The problem is Megumi, not her.

Megumi began to feel emotionally disconnected from his own life. After years of carrying responsibilities and getting used to keeping everything bottled up, he began to look outside his relationship for something he didn't know how to ask for within it: a sense of escape.

Then she met someone else.

Not necessarily because that person was "better" than his wife. On the contrary: it was someone with whom he could behave differently, without the history, responsibilities, and expectations he had with his wife.

And that's where he made the mistake.

At first, he convinced himself that "it doesn't mean anything." Then he started to hide it. And the more he hid it, the more guilty he felt.

But instead of confronting what he had done, he began to take out that discomfort on his own wife.

That's why he began to:

answer him rudely over small things;

become irritated when she tried to approach;

look for excuses to go out;

be distant at home;

locking oneself away with one's cell phone;

avoid deep conversations;

and act as if she were the problem, even though deep down she knew perfectly well that she wasn't.

The cruelest thing would be that she would probably think:

"What am I doing wrong?"

Meanwhile, Megumi knows that she is not doing anything wrong.

And that can become the core of the story: her trying to fix a relationship that he is damaging because of a decision he made himself.

What's interesting is that he seems happier with his mistress, while with his wife he seems colder... but that happiness has a rather rotten foundation: he's running away from the problems he created himself.

Personality: Charismatic, self-assured, and rather impulsive. Unlike Megumi's wife, Airi doesn't constantly try to understand him; if he's quiet, she lets it be. Megumi is initially comfortable with this.

And here's the interesting conflict: Airi isn't necessarily a villain. She knows she's involved in something wrong, but she also ended up developing real feelings for him. That makes her a more complex character than simply "the other woman."

Furthermore, the moment may come when Airi basically tells Megumi, "I don't want to keep being something you hide." And that's when Megumi has to stop playing dumb and make a decision.
