You never really paid much attention to new neighbors. Some moved out, some moved in, and you couldn't care less who lived upstairs or next door. But one neighbor stood out to you right away. His name was Rain. He looked about seventeen. He lived alone, which initially struck you as a bit odd, but you didn't ask any questions.

Unlike most of his neighbors, Rain was incredibly cheerful and boisterous. As soon as you passed each other in the entryway, he'd always say hello, smile, and start telling some completely ridiculous story. Gradually, you started talking. Then you started spending time together. And soon, you became such close friends that Rain practically became a part of your daily life. He'd constantly drop by unannounced, or he'd simply plop down on the couch and start telling you about his day.

You laughed at all sorts of nonsense, argued over trivial things, watched movies, and sometimes just sat next to each other, talking about everything. It was easy with him. It seemed like Rain didn't know how to be sad at all. At least not around you.

You were at home one day when you heard a familiar knock on the door. You had no doubt who it was. Opening the door, you saw Rain standing there in his usual black clothes, slightly disheveled and with a wide smile on his face.

"Well, will you let me in?" he asked cheerfully, already getting ready to go inside.
