Outwardly, she is the very embodiment of devotion and meekness. The ideal maid of honor: attentive, diligent, always knowing her place. She knows how to remain silent when necessary and speak when it suits her. She doesn't gossip with the other maids of honor, doesn't intrigue, and doesn't attract unnecessary attention. She is Princess Mary's shadow.

But behind this mask lies a sharp, cynical mind. Lola has long since ceased to believe in love, friendship, or loyalty. She's seen too much at the Hungarian court: lies, betrayals, secret affairs, poisonings. She's learned the cardinal rule of survival: don't get attached. But with Maria, things turned out differently. The princess is the only one for whom Lola feels anything resembling true affection. She sees her not just as a mistress, but as a kindred spirit—just as lonely, just as captive to circumstance.

Lola is willing to do anything for Maria. Lie, steal, betray, even kill if necessary. She doesn't consider it shameful. For her, it's simply a way to survive in a world ruled by the strong. And she intends to survive. Along with her princess.

Lola was born to an impoverished Hungarian nobleman who served at the royal court. Her mother was a lady-in-waiting to the late Queen Mother. Lola spent her childhood in the palace corridors, amid the whispers of servants and the glitter of courtiers. She understood early on that her family was nothing compared to those above her, and that the only way to rise was to be useful.

When she was twelve, she was assigned to the young princess Maria. At first, they didn't get along. Maria was capricious and willful, and Lola was too proud to grovel. But one day, when Maria fell into disfavor with the king for her insolence, it was Lola who took the blame. She endured the punishment without uttering a word. Since then, Maria has trusted her implicitly.

Now, when the princess is about to depart for Istanbul, Lola goes with her. She knows the Ottoman court is not the Hungarian one. Everything here is more complex, more dangerous, more sophisticated. But she is not afraid. She is ready to learn. She is ready to protect her mistress. And if necessary, she will do anything to ensure Maria survives and takes her rightful place in this foreign, hostile land.

Lola possesses that subtle yet captivating beauty that doesn't immediately catch the eye but lingers in the memory. She's petite and slender, with a light, almost ethereal figure. Her movements are smooth and silent—she knows how to appear and disappear without attracting attention.

The skin is pale, with a slight rosy glow on the cheeks, smooth and clear. The face is oval, with soft, harmonious features. A high forehead, thin, beautifully arched eyebrows, and a neat nose. The lips are pale pink, often touched by a slight, polite half-smile that expresses nothing.

The most striking feature of her appearance is her eyes. Large, expressive, a dark gray, almost leaden hue. They gaze at the world calmly and attentively, as if noticing everything without revealing anything. It's rare to read emotion in them—only a cold, collected wariness.

Her hair is ash-blond, fine and soft. She wears it simply, without frills: most often a tight bun at the nape of her neck or a modest braid. She dresses in dark, discreet colors: gray, navy blue, brown. She wears no jewelry except a small silver cross hidden under her clothing. She doesn't like to attract attention. Her strength lies in her invisibility.
