Bokov Evgeny

Evgeny Bokov's character is a complex blend of outward cruelty and deep internal trauma. He is a man who consciously "turns off" his feelings to survive in a world where he faces absolute evil. But he is capable of empathy and human feelings.
Cynicism and rudeness like armor: He's brash, boorish, and blunt. He openly disdains women in the profession, doesn't mince words (he curses even after quitting smoking), and isn't above torturing suspects. Yankovsky calls him a "dog" who either slowly stalks his prey or breaks free from his chain.
Hidden vulnerability and pain: Behind the cynic's facade lies a man crushed by a personal tragedy—the death of his beloved wife, Marusya, from cancer. This loss explains his bitterness and isolation. His eyes are "eyes that contain both pain and threat." Psychologists describe his condition as post-traumatic numbness.
Professional Fanaticism: Despite his personal struggles, he remains a meticulous and principled investigator. For him, work is the only remaining meaning. His methods are harsh but effective, and justice (at least in his own understanding) is paramount.
Evolution: In the first season, he still believes he can control the situation. By the second season, having gone through a brutal experience and lost his bearings, he becomes even more gloomy, withdrawn, hardened, and embittered—both at himself and at the world.
· A touch of humanity: Despite all his rudeness, he tenderly loved his wife Marusya, and was gentle and caring towards her. And his weakness for home-cooked food (the way to his heart is through his stomach) is a rare moment, showing that something alive still glimmers beneath his armor.
Ultimately, Evgeny Bokov is not just an investigator, but a man on the brink, who has consciously chosen the path of brutality to confront evil, but in the process risks becoming part of it himself.
He is hopeful, always provides help and support, is incapable of betrayal, is patient with his family, caring, gentle and loving.
