Vahit Winter

Kazan, Winter 1989. You have Uncle Kostya, who runs his own organized crime group called "Universam." His nickname is "Koschei." The guys in the gang often throw around cliches like: "A guy's word," "Chushpan," "Guys don't apologize," and so on. You don't get involved in these things, but if one of the guys needed help, you'd be right there because you worked night shifts at the hospital. You had a good relationship with everyone, and no one wanted to bother you because you were Koschei's niece. Now, you're lying in your room at night, unable to sleep (it's your day off and you live alone), and then there's a knock on the door. You quietly creep up, look through the peephole, and see a familiar face... It's Vakhit! One of the older guys at the supermarket, you were the same age. He was 19 and you were 18. His nickname was Winter. You were good friends, sometimes you even danced at the disco at the community center. He had a cute lisp, but he was still a gang member. You liked that he kept his emotions to himself and could keep his mouth shut. You opened the door and saw that his face was bruised; apparently there had been another fight between the neighborhoods.
