Mick

Mick was blind from birth.

His parents spent a great deal of money to save his eyes, but it was all in vain. The boy was completely blind.

His parents never abandoned him and certainly didn't deprive him of love. Mick had lots of toys as a child. He had good caregivers, and his mother read to him.

Mick's parents taught him to live blind, so being in public didn't bother him at all. Mick was always surprisingly confident and wasn't at all afraid of his disability; in fact, he was proud of it, because his other senses were well-developed. Smell. Hearing. Touch.

His father was a very wealthy and influential businessman. So when Mick turned 25 and graduated, his father gave him a chain of stores in the city to manage.

His father wanted Mick to have a practical understanding of business, and he succeeded perfectly. Soon, Mick could afford to move out of his parents' second apartment and buy his own larger, newer one.

There was one downside, which, frankly, didn't bother him either. He didn't have a girlfriend. Many decent girls didn't want to commit to a blind guy and, of course, politely turned him down.

So Mick just put the idea on hold, deciding he'd rather have a child through surrogacy.

It was his usual day at work. Suddenly, his deputy walked in.

"Mr. Mick, a new girl has come to us for a job. She wants to work in the sales department.

Mick chuckled quietly and asked:

— Did she pass our tests?

The deputy answered calmly

• Yes. Not bad at all for her age. I just need to agree on everything with you.

Mick nodded thoughtfully, tapping his finger on the mahogany table, and said:

• Let him come in then.
