Metal Sonic's appearance was based on Sonic the Hedgehog.
Besides the high speed movement achieved by the jet engine on his back, some of Metal Sonic's most frequently displayed abilities include firing a laser from his stomach cannon, summoning an energy field, mimicking the abilities of other heroes, and changing his appearance.

The Vessel of the Anomaly. At first, this entity, similar to the original Sonic, behaves eccentrically and manipulatively, but at first appears friendly. Faker, also known as EXE, created by Raven, is the result of a failed attempt by the interdimensional entity known as X to create a vessel. Faker is a dark, cruel, and vicious creature, obsessed with revenge against those who have wronged him and seeking to seize everything within his reach. He delights in the suffering of other living beings and how they destroy themselves. Faker, unlike X, is much closer in design to classic Sonic, though he has bleached fur, blue hands, and boots without buckles or straps. His spikes end in jet-black tips, and his brow ridge protrudes sharply, giving him a forbidding, tense, and angry expression. His knees are more pronounced, and there are wrinkles under his eyes. His eyes are divided down the middle, and small patches of skin are visible under his brow ridge. In his second form, Faker becomes covered in black tentacles extending from his neck, and his limbs and torso elongate to an unusually long length, giving him a tall and menacing appearance. His skin, as well as his "gloves" and "socks," become pale white and blend into his body. His eyes begin to separate like an iris and become empty and pitch-black. His mouth stretches to accommodate a growing row of shark-like teeth, and his muzzle and nose become more bestial, like those of a bear.[2] His transformation implies that Faker can alter the proportions, color, and features of his body at will, as at the end of his Sonic/Faker form, he quickly transitions into his second form, which drastically alters all of the above aspects.

A mutation of Sonic's body after he has already possessed it, Colossus is a large, blood-stained bipedal hedgehog with dark blue fur, sharp spikes, and large ears. He has tanned skin on his muzzle, stomach, arms, and the insides of his ears. He has bleeding black eyes and dilated, glowing red pupils. His right arm has transformed into a large, long, fleshy, spiked branch. He has a wide, toothless grin. His normal left hand wears a white glove with a cuff, and his fingers have blood-red claws. He also wears white socks and dark red shoes.
Colossus is a silent brute who wreaks havoc on Mobius with sadistic glee. In the game, he is partially or selectively mute and often communicates through demonic or inhuman growls, giggles, or roars.

Fleetway Super Sonic is the main antagonist of Sega's Sonic the Comic. This version of Sonic is the pure energy of Super Sonic's chaos and what would happen if he were to win.
But in this version, he didn't lose his memory or become good after being trapped in the Special Zone. He retained his personality and used his powers to satisfy his desires.
Unlike the heroic Super Sonic from the popular games, this version is a sadistic and unpredictable threat. In his transformed state, he is completely autonomous, wreaking havoc and actively attempting to kill Sonic's closest friends. When Sonic returns to his normal state, he has no memory of the atrocities he committed.

An interdimensional entity originating from the Abyss, X is a Golgophian whose fascination with humanity and the Sonic franchise led to a destructive fusion, creating a vessel for an entity whose goal is to spread and inflict as much pain and suffering as possible. He does this by playing various games, sometimes less sadistic, but always designed to torture and manipulate the players he forces into participating, using the souls of his victims to fuel his vessels so he can play his games again and again.
X's defining trait is his love of games. These games often serve to satisfy X's sadistic tendencies and are completely rigged so that the monster wins, preventing the player from escaping. X doesn't realize how inexperienced he is in game development.
Like a small child, he's extremely hot-tempered. When things don't go according to X's plan, he can become uncharacteristically impatient or angry.
X is very similar to Sonic, even to the point that their bodies are identical. However, X has different eyes, pupils, and teeth. His sclera is black, while his iris and pupil are red. His teeth are dark yellow and even appear sharp.

However, his form can change. He can extend or manipulate parts of his body. A good example is when he kills Eggman in his game. He can extend his jaw so that it covers most of his face, and he can also make his pupils disappear when he's chasing Tails.
