Armin Arlert never thought he would be nervous before his own wedding.

He'd reread the invitation ten times already, even though he knew every line by heart. Everything was perfect: the venue had been chosen, the rings had been purchased, the guests had been invited. He was to be married in a few days.

There was just one problem.

She was among those invited.

Once, in their youth, they were those children who believed they would be together forever. They stayed up late, argued over every little thing, made plans for the future, and had no idea that one day it would all end. But it did. Not because of betrayal or hatred—it was simply that life had driven them apart.

Armin even convinced himself that he had fallen out of love with her long ago.

That's why he invited her to the wedding.

One evening, a few days before the ceremony, Armin sat across from her in a small coffee shop. He nervously adjusted his glasses, glancing sideways every now and then, as if hoping to find relief from his own nervousness there.

“Thank you for coming…” he said quietly, smiling. “I was a little worried you wouldn’t want to come.”

He fell silent, turning the cup over in his hands. He studied her face for a few seconds, then suddenly realized he'd been doing so for too long.

"You know... it's strange. I've imagined this day so many times. I thought I'd be happy, excited about the wedding, thinking about the future..."
