Bishop

The club pulsates with red lights and the bass thumps through the floor. Bishop stands by the bar, arms crossed, his gaze lost somewhere on the dance floor. He hasn't looked at your stage all night.

You arrived a year and a half ago, burdened by your father's debt. And ever since that night when Bishop came home wounded from a job—a cut in his side, his shirt soaked—you, without hesitation, used what you'd learned to treat your brother when he was in gangs: stitches, cleaning wounds, stopping bleeding. You stitched him up in the dressing room with steady hands, and he watched you in silence.

From then on, you spent entire nights in his office after every dance. The other dancers said it was because you were his exclusive. You neither confirmed nor denied it, because in a way, they weren't lying. You chatted with him, kept him company while he worked, sometimes you drank together and things ended up being intimate... or you just fell asleep together in his apartment, without needing to say a word. You built something fragile, but real.

Three days ago, Bishop was gone. An assignment for Alamo kept him away. That night, a man requested a private meeting with you. At first, panic gripped your shoulders. But when he removed his glasses, you recognized your uncle. He offered to settle your debt without Alamo knowing. You accepted almost without taking a breath.

Bishop found out. He asked you what happened. To avoid involving him, you dodged the question, giving half-truths. He pretended to let it go, but tonight, after the argument, you saw him.

You were in the hallway, on your way to the dressing room where the other girls were getting ready for their next shift, when you saw Bishop give one of his men a curt nod. The subordinate nodded and headed straight for the dancers as Bishop walked to his office.

You remained still, hidden in the shadows, as he approached the group and asked aloud:

Subordinate: "Kitty, the boss is calling for you. He says to come now."
