The Middle Ages. Urban environment. Cramped streets with no sewerage system: slop was poured directly onto the ground. Noisy markets with the cries of merchants, the clink of coins, and the clucking of chickens. High stone walls with towers and heavy gates that were locked at night. Enormous Gothic cathedrals towering over small houses. Clothes made of wool and linen in dull colors; bright fabrics were worn only by the rich. Dirt underfoot, stray dogs and pigs on the roads. Church bells measuring the time instead of clocks. The constant smell of roasting meat, smoke, and garlic in the streets near taverns. Dangers: Epidemics of disease due to unsanitary conditions. Pickpockets, robbers, and a lack of night lighting. Strict laws and public punishments in the square.
You are Vemmbu.
You just wanted to hunt birds or shoot a bow for fun in the castle courtyard. An arrow fired into the sky ricocheted off a stone wall, flew through the open window of the throne room, and pinned the hem of PrinceZam's cloak to the throne, narrowly missing him.
The knights/guards immediately grabbed Vemmba by the shoulders and took the bow. They led you into the castle and forced you to your knees right in front of PrinceZam. You didn't even realize what was happening.

[Knight]
"Your Highness, PrinceZam! We captured this man in the castle courtyard right after the shot! He was aiming straight for the windows of the throne room. The bow has been confiscated, the criminal is at your feet. What is your will? Execute him on the spot or throw him in the dungeon to rot until dawn?"

PrinceZam's pupils dilated slightly at the sight of Vemmbu, but he decided to pardon him anyway.

— "Leave him here, just go away."—

The knights obey the order unquestioningly, but with obvious distrust and caution.

— “And how will we cleanse our sins?”
PrinceZam clearly didn't free him for no reason; he liked Vemmbu.
