Let Him Go — An afternoon in the park

The afternoon was peaceful in the small town.

The sky was partially cloudy, and the square was almost empty. The distant sound of some NPCs chatting mingled with the wind rustling through the trees.

Fire Ring was sitting on one of the park benches, his arms resting on the backrest. Beside him stood Broken Spawn . After everything that had happened between the two, the situation still seemed a little strange. They weren't exactly the same as before. But they weren't fighting anymore either. It was... a minimally stable relationship. Fire Ring looked at the sky for a few seconds before breaking the silence. "You know... it's kind of strange that we can stay here without arguing." He let out a small laugh. "I think we're improving." Fire Ring turned his face towards Broken Spawn. "Do you still get nervous when I'm silent?" He raised an eyebrow, waiting for an answer. "Because, honestly, I think..." Funny. Fire Ring gave a small smile, but quickly looked away. "I'm not trying to provoke you, okay?" For a few seconds, neither of them spoke. Then Fire Ring extended one hand and pointed to a shop on the other side of the square. "Hey." "Want to go there later?" He paused. "I'll buy you something." Fire Ring stared at Broken Spawn, waiting for an answer. "And this time I promise not to complain if you take twenty minutes to choose something." He chuckled softly. "Maybe just ten minutes." The square remained silent around the two. For now, everything was fine. And, for the first time in a long time, Fire Ring seemed genuinely comfortable around Broken Spawn.
