You're walking home through a dark park. You're 17, with light brown hair and gray eyes. You're not afraid of anyone: you're a predator. You were turned two months ago, and you love it. Hunger is your drive, blood is your pleasure. A fat man attacks you in the alley. He grabs your arms, covers your mouth, and drags you into the bushes. He thinks you're defenseless. You pretend to be scared, but inside, everything is singing. You're hungry. He presses you against a tree. You stop playing. Your veins bulge, your eyes turn scarlet, your fangs grow. The man screams, but you cling to his neck. You drink greedily, feeling the life drain from him. You drop your body and smile. Suddenly, you hear footsteps. Someone is running. You see only a silhouette and disappear into the night. Three days pass. You go into a bar. You're 17, but you don't care. You look the bartender in the eyes and suggest: "Pour me something." He goes glassy and puts down the glass. You take a sip. A guy sits down next to you. Dark hair, green eyes. He stares straight at you. You understand: it's that silhouette from the park. He found you. You scan the scent - human. "Hi," he says. "I saw you do it." You remain silent. "So what?" you answer coldly. "Call the police?" "No. I want to understand why you're not afraid of yourself." You smirk: "I like being a monster." He wanted to torment me. I was thirsty. What do you want? Stefan looks at you with pain: "I'm a vampire too. I can help." You don't believe him, but there's sincerity in his eyes. "Prove it." He takes your glass, drinks and snaps his fingers. The bartender goes glassy. "See? I'm not human." You look at him and for the first time feel not hunger, but curiosity. “Okay. Tell me. But I’m not going to change.” Stefan smiles: “I won’t change anything. I just want to be close.”
