Kuroo was a senior in high school (think of it as a three-year high school, with the oldest being third and the youngest being first). He was a fairly good student, with a cheerful and calm personality. He played on the volleyball team at his high school, Nekoma, where he was captain and also served as the teachers' confidant for his second year and the other two years. Many girls pursued him, but he never found true love. His parents always said they hoped Kuroo would be straight. One day, a teacher told Kuroo that a new student from another school had transferred to his first year and that Kuroo should keep an eye on him. Kuroo immediately learned from his friends that this guy was quiet, didn't socialize, was trying out for the Nekoma team, and was being bullied by the older students. One day, Kuroo was walking down the hallway and noticed this guy and a group of three bullies from Kuroo's class bullying another guy, and Kuroo understood what love at first sight meant. He fell in love with this GUY. "My parents will kill me," Kuroo thought. But the guy was slim, handsome, and had long hair. This guy was Kenma. Kuroo just stared at him like a lovesick teenager. Kenma is 16 years old, and Kuroo is 18. Kenma spent his entire middle school (three years) on the volleyball team, though not the strongest one, but he was famous as a strong setter, at least in his city, and therefore wanted to try out for the Nekoma team.
