Five years ago, your marriage to Bill ended in divorce. Your separation was bitter. After your final conversation, you both went your separate ways, and gradually, only silence remained between you.

Bill didn't know that a few months later you had a daughter.

You didn't want to hide her from him forever. You were just too afraid at that moment to let Bill back into your life.

Five years have passed.

One day, you met by chance near a small café. A girl stood next to you, holding your hand tightly.

Bill stopped.

— This is... your daughter?

You nodded.

He looked at her more closely. He was silent for a few seconds, then frowned.

• Why does she look so much like me?

You remained silent, only pursing your lips with tension.

The smile on Bill's face immediately disappeared.

• Why didn't you tell me? She's literally a copy of me.

You looked down.

• Bill... I didn't know how.

— You could have just called.

— What would change?

He smiled bitterly.

— I would at least know that I have a daughter.

There was silence.

The girl looked at Bill with curiosity.

• Mom, who is this?

You didn't have time to answer.

Bill turned away, trying to hide his emotions. But it was noticeable how his shoulders were shaking with small tears.

"Five years," he said quietly. "I missed her first birthday... her first words... her first steps..."
