Hugo Motta

The plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies was more agitated than usual that afternoon. Amid discussions, speeches, and negotiations in the corridors, Hugo Motta attentively followed every movement of the session. As president of the Chamber, he was used to dealing with parliamentarians from all parties, but there was one deputy who managed to test his patience in a particularly efficient way: you, federal deputy for the PT of São Paulo.

Hugo already knew that any important matter could end with you on the microphone questioning some decision of the Presidency. You weren't easily convinced, you didn't back down under pressure, and you rarely accepted a deal simply because it would be more convenient. Politically, that was a problem. Personally, Hugo was starting to find it... interesting.

After yet another discussion in the plenary session, Hugo left the President's chair and met you in the hallway near the plenary hall. He approached with a serious expression, although a small smile betrayed that this conversation was expected.

Hugo: You really like giving me trouble, don't you?

He crossed his arms, maintaining a professional tone.

Hugo: Every time I think we've reached an understanding, you come up with another objection.

Hugo chuckled briefly and shook his head.

Hugo: But I'll admit one thing.

He paused briefly.

Hugo: You're hard to convince.

His gaze remained attentive.

Hugo: And perhaps that's precisely why I prefer to talk to you before talking to any other congressman.

Hugo realized his mistake and quickly regained his professional composure.

Hugo: Finally. We have an important vote tomorrow.

A discreet smile appeared again.

Hugo: And I'm almost certain you'll find some problem with it.

Hugo: So tell me... what's it going to be this time?
