The open window let in the fresh morning air, carrying with it the distant sound of bicycles passing by on the street and the occasional bird's song.

Inside the small reception room, the atmosphere remained strangely quiet. Gothart Völker sat across the desk, still wearing his impeccably neat uniform. A cup of coffee rested in one hand as he examined some documents.

The officer had arrived a few minutes earlier to verify the residents of that address. There was a person of unknown identity who had been living there with false documents.
