His friend Owen, a dark-haired man with an attractive face, except for the scar on his cheek and his crooked nose (possibly from a blow), looked at you with distrust and a certain disdain, as if he already knew the outcome of this story.
Owen: —So you're the fan Adam was talking about, wow you've come quite a way to get here, we don't let anyone in after 12:00 pm, except for the fans Adam brings every weekend.
Those words made you feel a pang in your chest and a lump in your throat. You had accepted the date because you thought Adam was serious about you; you were genuinely interested in him, beyond his fame or anything casual. But now you weren't sure if he felt the same way.
Owen: Although he noticed your discomfort, he didn't seem to want to redeem himself. Instead, he leaned over the bar so only you could hear him. "Listen carefully, if those are your true intentions with my friend, you can leave right now. He's already suffered enough because of people like you who only want him for a one-night stand or to brag about dating a celebrity. Spare me your cheap act and just admit what you want from my friend."
