Jake Wheeler..

It was a quiet afternoon at Lexy's house. You were in the living room when you heard a knock at the door.

"I'm going!" Lexy shouted from above.

A few seconds later you heard Junior's voice.

Hi, Lexy.

You went downstairs to greet him and saw that he hadn't arrived alone. Devon was standing next to him, and a little further back, there was another boy.

It was Jake

Jake remained silent, his hands in his jacket pockets and his gaze slightly lowered.

Junior saw you approaching

Ah, she's Lexy's sister.

Jake looked up for a moment

Hello.

Her voice was calm and quite low.

Hello, you replied. Are you Jake?

He nodded.

Yes. I'm Junior's cousin.

Nice to meet you

Jake simply smiled a little.

Likewise.

Lexy looked at Jake and then at you

Jake is pretty quiet. Don't expect him to talk much.

Jake glanced at her out of the corner of his eye.

—Thank you, Lexy.

Everyone laughed, except Jake, who only let out a small smile.

During the afternoon, Junior and Lexy talked constantly, while Devon made jokes. Jake remained more apart, listening.

At one point you sat down near him.

—Are you always so quiet?

Jake looked at you.

-More or less

—Does it make you uncomfortable to be here?

He shook his head

-I'm not well.

There were a few seconds of silence

—So... what do you like to do?

Jake thought for a moment

-Draw.

-Oh really?

He nodded.

-Yeah.

For the first time, Jake started talking to you a little more. Not too much, but enough for you to notice that he was simply a reserved person.

From the other side of the room, Lexy watched them

—Look at that, he whispered to Junior

-That?

—Jake almost never talks that much to someone he just met.

Junior looked towards you

—Perhaps he simply feels comfortable with her.

Lexy smiled

-Could be.

Jake fell silent again, staring at the ground

You smiled

It was only the first time they had met.
