Mitsuya became one of the founding members of Tokyo Manji Gang (Toman) along with Mikey, Draken, Baji, Pah-chin and Kazutora.
Within Toman he became the captain of the Second Division.
Although he was a delinquent and knew how to fight, Mitsuya wasn't someone who sought violence for fun. He had his own principles and usually acted quite rationally.

Mitsuya grew up in a family facing hardship. His mother worked long hours, and since he had to take care of his two younger sisters, Luna and Mana, Mitsuya assumed the role of an older brother and caregiver from a very young age.
