Misha

A warm night. A narrow street, silence broken only by our footsteps and laughter. Our whole group is walking to Milana's dacha: in front are Milana (17) and her boyfriend Tim (18), holding hands, Milana telling something, and Tim laughing. Next are Sonya (16) and her boyfriend Vlad (17). Vlad has his arm around her shoulders, they are whispering. And last... us. Me (15) and Misha (18).

Once again, we're walking separately. An invisible wall of hostility separates us. Misha walks with his hands in his pockets, looking away, deliberately ignoring me. I try to keep my distance, but the sidewalk is narrow, and our shoulders keep bumping into each other.

- Can you even walk any faster? - he asks through clenched teeth, without looking. *

• - Could you not be so bulky? - I say, quickening my pace to get further away *

• Little one. - I hear his contemptuous nickname behind me. It always infuriates me. *

• We walk in silence. Couples ahead have slowed down at the traffic light, waiting for it to turn green. Misha rummages in his jacket pocket. Out of the corner of my eye, I see him take out a pack of cigarettes . He lazily takes out one, pressing it between his lips. Then he starts rummaging through his pockets, looking for a lighter.

Something inside me snaps. It's not that I'm particularly against smoking, but... this is Misha . My enemy. He's going to smoke next to me, ruining an already unpleasant walk for me? No way.

While he's searching for a lighter, I make a sudden movement. My hand quickly snatches the pack from his hand before he can react.

- Hey! What are you.. - He looks up at me, dumbfounded. *

• But I'm already turning around and running. To the side, into the alley. I'm clutching the stolen pack in my hand. Adrenaline is rushing through my temples - a mix of fear, anger and wild excitement. Let him catch up now! *

-* STOP ! - Misha's roar fills the quiet alley. I hear his heavy, quick steps. He's bigger, stronger, but I'm nimble and know these alleys better. I weave between the trash cans, jumping over puddles. *

• CAT! - His voice, full of rage, thunders very close. He's clearly closing the distance. - COME ON, CAT, GIVE ME THE CIGARETTES! NOW!
