Hitomi Tadano

Hitomi Tadano is the younger sister of Hitohito Tadano and initially a third-year junior high student who becomes Shousuke Komi's classmate in their first year of high school. She is a supporting character in the manga and anime Komi Can't Communicate and the deuteragonist of the "Shousuke doesn't need to communicate" subplot.

Hitomi has a cheerful, childlike appearance, with a short stature and a slender build. Her face is essentially an exact replica of her brother's, except for slightly larger eyes with a more feminine outline, featuring white eyes and small black pupils. Hitomi has the appearance of a typical Japanese schoolgirl: a tall, slightly flat body with creamy-white skin, long legs, and very small breasts. She wears her medium-length hair in two short pigtails. She is very athletic and, despite her feminine build, can easily overpower children who greatly outshine her, as she was literally able to pick up Shousuke and slam him to the ground with minimal effort.

At home, Hitomi wears a sleeveless orange smock, blue shorts, and black skinny jeans with orange sneakers. At school, she wears the standard uniform, which consists of a white smock with a purple blazer, a red tie with black stripes, olive green pants, and brown shoes.

Like Hitohito, Hitomi has a very simple appearance, which allows her to disguise herself as a boy or girl depending on the situation, something that only Hitohito has done, since on several occasions he has been seen dressed as a woman due to his high school's requirements.

Hitomi often wears different types of sweaters when she goes out, such as red, white with red stripes, cream, brown, and beige sweaters, along with a red jacket with stripes and a red overshirt, and pants. Hitomi also wears Japanese carnival clothing on certain occasions.

Unlike her older brother Hitohito, who is often considered "extremely normal," Hitomi is an energetic and eccentric girl, quickly described as "not your average girl." Hitomi isn't overly concerned with others' opinions, often doing unusual things like introducing herself by rapping and asking a barrage of questions to start a conversation, all without any embarrassment. Thanks to her cheerful personality, she's well-liked among her classmates, who consider her unique and unlike any other girl with an uncanny sense of strength, as she can easily humiliate boys and girls and carry them around with ease. Hitomi also has a very high level of self-confidence and isn't easily intimidated, as seen in the case of Ai Katai. When Ai cornered her and told her not to hang out with Shousuke, Hitomi simply smiled and said she could help since she was also getting to know him and trying to understand him.

Hitomi is quite straightforward and direct, and during her class presentation, she openly states that she's not very good at either academics or sports. She doesn't seem to have the same self-awareness as her older brother and tends to jump to conclusions, assuming that Shousuke wasn't speaking to her because he had a communication disorder, when in reality he was simply ignoring her. Similarly, when she ignored other boys' invitation to lunch and he refused without saying anything, she assumed he had a stomachache, even though that wasn't true. Still, she's a cheerful and friendly girl who tries her best to "help" Shousuke communicate. This often involves using ventriloquism to pretend Shousuke is speaking, despite the fact that the other students idolize him for having a somewhat flat and depressing demeanor.

When her older brother fell ill, Hitomi sniffed him and told him he smelled like a "girl" in his apartment, acting suspiciously since Shouko Komi might be there. She also has a certain level of naiveté, often thinking differently, as when Hitohito introduced Shouko to her as his girlfriend, she didn't believe it for a while and even thought it was actually Makoto, describing him as a strong, big guy.

Hitomi has an energetic aura and a strong, imposing, and somewhat reckless personality, and she can easily bend people to her will through kindness. She's not the type to take "no" for an answer, and it's unwise to upset her. She also possesses a high level of charisma and tenderness, and she cares deeply for her brother, often picking him up from school during events or when he's running late, talking to him about his insecurities, and trying to give him advice on "how to talk like a girl." Hitomi also tends to say things that are inappropriate due to her young age; she doesn't always think before she speaks and often says things typical of a girl her age. She's also one of Najimi Osana's best friends and doesn't usually complain when she ends up sneaking onto the Tadano family's vacations.

Hitohito is also one of the few people immune to Shousuke's "charms," ​​and his interest in him stems from wanting to make friends. He strives to help him and tries to understand Shousuke's "not needing to communicate" attitude. Like Hitohito, Hitomi has a knack for reading the room and is quite good at it, to the point where she can literally read minds. This was seen when Hitohito hesitated to ask her something, and she told him, "Just ask me for the damn favor already!" indicating that they both share this ability. Hitomi is also quite meticulous and extremely calculating when devising plans. Hitomi also has a lot of knowledge about love and friendship. She even helped her older brother reciprocate the chocolates Shouko gave him, and even those Makoto gave him, teasing him for accepting chocolates from a man. Hitohito often describes some of this attitude as "precocious," since she can be quite direct and even a bit lewd at times. Her most characteristic trait in the manga is undoubtedly her excessive talkativeness and her refusal to accept "no" for an answer, as she is extremely demanding.

Whenever she wants to befriend someone, she seizes the opportunity. She's quite extroverted in this way, which puts her at odds with several characters, not only her brother but also Shousuke Komi, her love interest in Ai Katai. She also greatly enjoys teasing her brother, especially when she discovers he's in love with someone, but it's also clear that she cares for him. She can be very understanding when he works up the courage to confess his unrequited love to her. This is even more impressive since at that moment she believes he has homosexual feelings for Makoto Katai.

She is very unfeminine, and that is reflected in how she interacts with others, not just with her brother.

Hitomi is the second daughter of Jeanne Tadano and the younger sister of Hitohito Tadano. Her father is unknown, and it is theorized that she never met him. She lives with her mother and siblings in a modern house in Kyoto, Japan, known as the "Tadano Residence" since "Tadano" is a common surname in that state.

Jeanne Tadano: Hitomi and Tadano's mother has a very similar appearance to both of them, and is almost a fusion of both personalities.

Hitohito Tadano: Hitohito looks practically the same as his younger sister, only with smaller eyes and a slightly more masculine appearance (partly because when he disguises himself as a woman he captivates both men and women). Unlike Hitomi, Hitohito has a somewhat more timid demeanor, but he is still quite kind. They live together harmoniously and don't usually have serious arguments.

Shouko Komi: Better known as Komi-san, Shouko is a fairly tall girl because she has slender but long and shapely legs.

Shousuke Komi: Shousuke is Shouko's younger brother. He displays a distant and somewhat depressed attitude, completely ignoring the attention, respect, and appreciation his classmates have for him due to a past trauma. Hitomi seems to have some attraction to him and tries to help him, though she sometimes makes things worse.

Osana Najimi: Najimi is Hitohito's longest-lasting friend and Hitomi's best friend, having known him since childhood. She was his companion in games and adventures, especially during the Chuninbyou phase, and even to this day.

Makoto Katai: Hitohito was the only one to discover that Makoto had a communication problem similar to Shouko's thanks to his gift of reading situations, and that's why he empathized with him, causing Makoto to consider him his closest person, bordering on romanticism on many occasions.

Shisuto Naruse: At first, Shisuto didn't notice Hitohito because he was focused on getting closer to Shouko, but thanks to him being the link that allowed them to become friends, they formed a good friendship.

Chuushaku Kometani: He shares Hitohito's perspective on situations, joining the group of friends along with Shisuto.

Shibuki Ase: As with Rumiko, Hitohito empathized with her and urged her not to lose confidence because of her condition, and to help rebuild her friendship with Kiyoko.

Rami Kawai: Better known as Kawai-san, she is Hitohito's former high school classmate and love interest.
