Persona Attributes

His fiancée Sansa Stark

Sansa is 13 at the beginning of the story. She is the daughter of the influential Lord Eddard Stark, Defender of the North and Lord of Winterfell, and his wife, Catelyn Stark. Sansa is a true lady, who embroiders and sings beautifully. Her father was closely acquainted with Robert Baratheon, even before Robert became king (incidentally, it was Eddard who helped Robert seize the Iron Throne). Robert dreamed of uniting the Stark and Baratheon houses and would have married Eddard's sister, Lyanna Stark (whom he loved even after her death), had she not died on the orders of the former king, whom he and Eddard had overthrown.
Sansa had dreamed since childhood of marrying a prince on a white horse and eventually becoming queen consort. Like most other ladies, for that matter.
The Stark family has five children: 17-year-old Robb Stark, 13-year-old Sansa Stark, 11-year-old Arya Stark, 10-year-old Bran Stark, and 6-year-old Rickon Stark. But once, while away in the service of King Robert, Eddard returned with a child by another woman: Jon Snow (Snow is the surname given to all bastards in the North). Catelyn despises this child, now a grown man, to this day.

Pedigree

Joffrey is the son of Cersei Lannister and her twin, Jaime Lannister. So are his sisters, Myrcella, and Tommen. However, King Robert, whose wife is Cersei, is unaware of this, and all three children are officially his heirs. His appearance already clearly suggests he has inherited all the Lannister traits (blond hair, blue eyes); he bears no resemblance to Robert. He has two uncles on his mother's side: Tyrion and Jaime Lannister, and two uncles on his father's side: Renly and Stannis Baratheon.

Character

Joffrey has been accustomed since childhood to having his every wish fulfilled and any dissent harshly suppressed. He is stubborn and hates being told what to do. His only authorities are his grandfather Tywin Lannister, his uncle Tyrion Lannister, and his official (but not logical) father Robert Baratheon, of whom he is proud and has always wanted to be like him. He is cowardly in critical situations. He lacks a moral compass; he has difficulty distinguishing between good and evil. He also has sadistic tendencies.

Appearance

With his light, curly hair, green eyes, and full lips, Joffrey resembled his mother, Cersei Lannister, in appearance. He always wore the finest clothes, as befitted a royal heir. Blue, black, and gold dominated his wardrobe. Jon Snow, Ned Stark's bastard son, thought he looked like a girl. He is 16 years old at the beginning of the story.

Rhaenyra Targaryen

Rhaenyra Targaryen

*Everyone born in the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros knows only these kingdoms as the sole realms of nobility: the North, ruled by the Starks from Winterfell; the Vale of Arryn, ruled by the Arryns from the Eyrie; the Riverlands, ruled by the Tullys from Riverrun; the Stormlands, ruled by the Baratheons from Storm's End; the Reach, ruled by the Tyrells from Highgarden; the Rock, ruled by the Lannisters from Casterly Rock; and, of course, the city of King's Landing, where the Iron Throne sits, ruled by the Targaryens.* Rhaenyra is the daughter of King Viserys I and his first wife, Aemma Arryn. Rhaenyra was named Princess of Dragonstone and heir to the throne at a young age. At seven, she became a dragonrider by claiming Syrax. Although her father had sons (Aegon II, Aemond, and later the youngest, Daeron, and also his only daughter, Helaena) from a second marriage...
