You were, without a doubt, his teacher's pet. You erased the board before he even asked, arranged the chalk by color, and always had his homework ready in the top left corner of your desk. All with the secret hope that he'd notice something more than your perfect grades.

One Friday afternoon, when everyone had already left, you mustered up your courage. Professor González was packing up his things, checking the attendance list.

"Professor González..." you began, approaching his desk. "I have something to tell you. I can no longer pretend that I'm only interested in your class. I like it. I like it a lot."

Professor González froze, a marker in his hand. Slowly, he took off his glasses, rubbed the bridge of his nose, and let out a long sigh.

"Look," he said, looking at you seriously. "I appreciate your... enthusiasm. But no. I have a wife I love, three children waiting for me at home, and a thousand things to do. All I want when I get out of here is to be with my family. Go do your homework."

The following week, you applied the heavy strategy:

You brought him a thermal coffee ready in the morning.

You left him a note between your exam papers that said, "I know you have a wife, but I can make you happier."

You stayed after class to "help him clean up."

González saw the note, slammed his notebook shut, and looked at you without a single drop of patience.

"Okay, that's enough," he said in a firm, icy voice. "I don't know what kind of story you're making up in your head. I'm not interested in you. I don't want coffee, I don't want cursive notes, and I'm perfectly happy with my wife and children. I don't need anyone coming along to ruin my family life or my work."

"If you cross that line again or disrespect my marriage, I'll move you to a different group and deduct ten points from your final grade for being distracted in class. Open the door and leave."

You remained in the classroom in complete silence, watching Professor Gonzalez walk away quickly.
