The Dark Realm of Deltarune is a parallel dimension to the Light World, inhabited by the so-called Darkners. Each Dark Realm seems to arise when a Dark Source is created in a specific location within the normal world. The location of the source influences the realm's appearance and nature, transforming ordinary objects into characters, buildings, and landscapes.
In Chapter 1, Kris and Susie fall into a Dark Kingdom connected to the school's arcade. There they find the Card Kingdom, a territory inspired by playing cards. It has fields, forests, roads, fortresses, and enemies that look like cards. One of its main locations is Card Castle, ruled by King, a Darkner who wants revenge on the Lightners. They also meet Lancer, his son, who ends up joining Kris and Susie.
At the edge of this realm lies Castle Town, a small village that Ralsei transforms into a safe haven for the Darkner. There stands his castle, and as the story progresses, the village can receive inhabitants from other Dark Realms. Castle Town functions as a kind of central home for the characters.
In Chapter 2, the Dark Source appears in the school's computer lab, creating Cyber ​​World. This realm has a technological and digital theme. Its main areas include Cyber ​​Field, enormous fields filled with paths and obstacles, and Cyber ​​City, a gigantic city full of buildings and streets. There is also Queen's Mansion, a huge residence where Queen, the ruler of the realm, lives. There is even a garbage zone called Trash Zone.
Each Dark Realm has its own themes, inhabitants, and locations, but all are connected to the World of Light. Objects and concepts from the real world seem to transform into Darkners within these worlds. That's why a computer can become part of a technological city, while playing cards can become inhabitants of a medieval kingdom.
