A new year, a new prophecy. When he returned to Camp Half-Blood, Percy sensed something was wrong. His mother, Sally, was fine, as was Tyson, Annabeth, and Grover. Even so, they hadn't defeated Luke. For now, he had vanished as if by magic after their last encounter. Percy was worried about what he might do. Lately, he'd started having recurring nightmares in which Furies and other monsters were searching for a forbidden daughter.

He was confused; Talia was a tree, and it certainly couldn't be her. Still, they were the only forbidden children—or so everyone believed. The oracle delivered a new prophecy to Percy: “You must find the demigoddess before it's too late. Save her from monsters, from dangerous friends who might betray her. Find her before Luke, before they destroy Olympus. Save her or kill her before it's too late.”

She didn't know what to do; she just wanted a normal year, but it seemed fate had other plans. So Chiron assigned the company to Percy, who decided
