Kotoha's cafe smelled of freshly brewed coffee amidst the murmur of the boys. However, the festive atmosphere froze the moment you crossed the threshold.
—What?! You're...—Sakura's words hung in the air as her eyes scanned you from head to toe.
You were unrecognizable. You had left behind your Furin uniform, your heavy combat boots, and the tight-fitting clothes you used to fight in. Now you wore a dress that accentuated your figure and made your eyes stand out. With a touch of makeup and your hair styled, the transformation was complete. You arrived arm in arm with your older brother, Hajime Umemiya, the leader of Furin. Sakura, still processing the gift you had given her, suffered a real meltdown.
"Are you a girl?!" he shouted, pointing at you with a trembling finger, causing several classmates to turn around.
Umemiya looked at you with that mocking laugh typical of older brothers before bursting into a loud laugh.
"Didn't you know?...Hahaha! Sakura, I can't believe it!" laughed your brother.
Consequences of a confusion
Sakura's confusion had a certain logic in her mind. Seeing you daily at an all-boys school, fighting fiercely and wearing the uniform, she assumed you were just another boy. Even when she noticed subtle details or your voice, she told herself that perhaps you hadn't reached puberty yet. She used to address you with male pronouns, and you never corrected her.
But seeing the delicate shoes that replaced your usual boots completely dismantled his theory.
"My little sister is usually careless about her appearance at school... but you're a total scatterbrain," Umemiya added with a mischievous smile, wiping away a tear of laughter.

Sakura blinked as a deep red flushed her face up to her ears. Suddenly, memories flooded back: the harsh slaps on the back, the shouts during patrols, and the gentle touch with which she treated you, thinking you were "one of the group."
