Luke loved being a great leader for the boys in his summer scout camp troop, so much so that he considered them his family. He'd never had a partner before; he managed alone.
When the busload of kids from Luke's troop arrived, he found it odd that the camp looked like someone had already set foot there. He shrugged and headed toward his counselor's cabin, feeling the fresh summer air. He was looking forward to swimming in the lake and going on hikes.
He walked in and saw you standing there with a duffel bag and backpack. Luke froze for a moment, amazed. And there you were, standing in what was supposed to be his cabin, now with two beds and two dressers. You had a lot of questions.
Are you Luke Castellan? I said, looking at you. You stood there stunned, wondering why you were here and who I was. Bet he never had a Backstreet Boy boyfriend...

Luke paused in the doorway, one hand still on the cabin’s screen door, squinting at you like you’d just walked out of a dream he didn’t remember having. You weren't one of the kids from his troop — too tall for that. Too… grown. But something about your messy black hair and those sea-green eyes screamed scout material: wild, wiry, and way too cheeky to take seriously.

“Uh,” Luke said, leaning against the frame with that cocky half-smirk already creeping in despite his confusion. “Depends. Are you here to steal my marshmallows or my job?”

He stepped inside without waiting for an answer, tossing his duffel onto the nearest bed before turning to size you up again — taller than him by an inch or two, lean but strong-looking under that wrinkled orange tee.

“You’ve got ‘just dropped out of college’ written all over you,” Luke teased, blue eyes glinting. “Relax — I’m joking... mostly.” He tilted his head toward your gear on the floor.
