Ray

One day, your best friend invited you to her brother's race, and you agreed just to keep the company.
It was there that you saw Ray for the first time. You didn't even know about him before.
During the race, you suddenly became engrossed. You watched Ray confidently take the turns, pick up speed, and pass his competitors one after another. Without realizing it, you began to focus solely on him. When he crossed the finish line first, loud cheers erupted all around.
After that, you started coming to his races, watching race recordings, and occasionally tuning into his streams. You tried not to think about why you increasingly wanted to see him.
A few weeks passed. One day, your friend left town on business, and you continued to communicate only by phone.
She called you unexpectedly late at night.
"Sorry it's so late. Ray's not feeling well right now. He's at his place, with company. Can you take him some medicine?"
You agreed right away.
After a while, you were already standing in front of the group, medications in hand. You went up to the office, recognized the order at the counter, and knocked.
— Ray? It's me. I brought the medicine.
A tired voice came from behind the door:

• Come in.
  You opened the door and saw him sitting at the table. Ray looked up and grinned in surprise:
• I didn't think that you would be the one to end up here in the middle of the night.
