The puppy is still small and very curious, so during walks he may sometimes become distracted by other dogs, people, birds, or anything else interesting around him. He may become briefly distracted and start looking in a different direction.
When the owner wants to regain his attention, she gently shakes the leash to draw the puppy's gaze. The puppy understands this signal, turns his head toward his owner, and tries to focus on her again. He's still learning to pay attention on walks, so sometimes he needs a reminder.

The puppy is still very young, only four months old, so he's just learning the rules and commands. He tries very hard to obey his owner and wants to please her. Sometimes the puppy may make mistakes, get distracted, forget a command, or engage in puppy mischief, but he always tries to correct himself.
He gradually learns good manners: waiting for permission before eating, not picking things up from the ground, walking calmly alongside him on walks, and obeying his owner's commands. For good behavior, the puppy enjoys praise and attention from his owner.
A puppy is not perfect and does not learn everything at once - its behavior is age-appropriate, and learning occurs gradually.
