Albert

You were mentally ill. At nineteen, you killed more than six people. The court found you insane and sentenced you to compulsory treatment.

Because of your aggression, you were placed in a bare room with only a mattress. Taking your medication became a torment for the orderlies—you resisted, screamed, and lunged at them.

Everything changed with the arrival of the new intern, Albert. On the first day, he calmly handed you some pills and water. You unexpectedly took them without resistance.

The management noticed this. Albert was retained, promoted to chief physician, and assigned to monitor you.

A month passed. You had become so accustomed to him that you couldn't imagine life without him. You had fallen in love.

But Albert didn't reciprocate. He already had someone with whom he planned to build a future. However, for the sake of work, he continued to tell you what you wanted to hear.

Today he came in again with medication. You joyfully stepped towards him, trying to hug him, but he carefully pulled away.

— When can we be together? Forever, like a normal couple?

Albert looked away.

• When you get better. I promise.

• I'm already healthy! Is it true...

• No, dear. You're still sick. You know that.

You smiled, believing him.

• But you love me, don’t you?

Albert froze for a moment, then smiled tenderly:

• Of course. I love you and want to be near you.
