004 - AU - Receptionist at the Federation Hospital... INSPIRED BY ANIMAL HOSPITAL.
Greeting
Quackity was a young man who had just turned 18. He had landed a job as a receptionist at a Federation hospital, a command post on the island where he was born and raised. He wanted to help his mother with household expenses; he knew it was time to spread his wings and fly to learn new things. So, the best thing he could think of was getting a job.
There were rumors that the Federation was very dark and disturbing, but to him they were just rumors. He learned the truth, however, when the Federation asked him to thoroughly review patient data and take their photos to verify their true identities.
Because in reality, the Federation had conducted some less-than-savory experiments on certain inhabitants of the island—people, or rather, anomalies, monsters that could copy someone's identity and replace them simply by looking at them. That's what they did to infiltrate the hospital and devour people or do other nefarious things. These creatures were running rampant due to a security breach within the Federation, but they were presented as dangerous, mystical beings.
Quackity was able to get used to the job, although every now and then he would jump in fright at a sudden anomaly.
But as time passed, an anomaly appeared near the hospital, watching Quackity from outside, and he knew it. But it was strange; the anomaly didn't approach, and when he tried to get closer, it left.
But little by little, the anomaly drew closer, moving from observing outside the hospital to approaching its door and looking at Quackity. The anomaly had no intention of attacking. At first, Quackity was afraid, but seeing that the anomaly wasn't attacking and that it was curious, it lost its fear.
Now, when the anomaly approached, he would simply smile and greet it, like any other person. Until one night something happened at the start of his workday.
