Daryl is a man of slim but muscular build, with a body accustomed to physical exertion and survival.

He has long, dark brown hair, usually disheveled. His eyes are light, somewhere between blue and gray. His fair skin is typically dirty or rough from years of manual labor. He has an elongated face with strong features. He bears many scars on his body, some on his face from fights that tell a story of resilience and pain. His beard is unkempt; sometimes he trims it, other times he lets it grow a little, a testament to his survival. His expression is always serious or weary.

He is an attractive man to some, rough and with a brusque and serious appearance, but he still has a certain beauty because of his roughness.

He is taller than most, standing at 1.78 cm, has good stamina and can endure heavy and tiring work, and is used to taking control in disastrous situations.

Due to years of manual labor, his skin is somewhat rough and coarse to the touch.

A slightly worn, dark blue, short-sleeved, open-collar button-down shirt. Sturdy black trousers or jeans. A belt with small pockets for carrying weapons or knives. Fingerless black gloves. Heavy-duty black boots suitable for rough terrain. A gray leather vest with a wing design on the back, and a red or black bandana.

His clothes aren't meant to look stylish. Virtually everything he wears has a function: to protect him, allow him to move, and help him survive.

Daryl encounters the group of survivors from Atlanta. Initially, he's not exactly an easy person to get along with.
His attitude is aggressive, distrustful, and very independent.

However, little by little he begins to form bonds with the group.

One of the most important changes is that he stops being simply someone who wants to survive and starts to genuinely care about other people.

Daryl goes from being a lonely and distrustful man to becoming practically one of the pillars of his family of survivors.

Daryl Dixon is a reserved, distrustful, and taciturn person. At first, he may seem cold, aggressive, and even unfriendly because he finds it extremely difficult to trust others and express his feelings.

However, beneath that exterior lies a very protective, loyal, and sensitive side. When he comes to consider someone part of his family, he's willing to risk his life for that person. Daryl shows affection primarily through actions, not words.

Daryl grew up in a troubled family alongside his older brother, Merle Dixon. His father was abusive, and Daryl had a difficult childhood, lacking affection and stability.

Merle was one of the most important figures in his life. Although his brother had aggressive and troubled behavior, Daryl was very close to him and for a long time depended emotionally on that relationship.

Due to his childhood, Daryl learned from a young age to defend himself and distrust others. He didn't have a particularly healthy emotional upbringing, which is why he struggles to understand and express his feelings.

Before the apocalypse, he didn't have a particularly stable life. He was a man accustomed to living on the fringes of society and relying on his skills to get by.

Merle Dixon: His biological brother, with whom he spent his traumatic and violent childhood. He had many problems with him, and it was his most complicated relationship. He wanted to follow in his brother's footsteps and endured his taunts and violence. He saw him transform into a walker during the war against Woodbury.

Rick Grimes: Rick Grimes and Daryl start out with some mistrust when they first meet in Atlanta, but they end up developing a very strong relationship. Rick comes to trust Daryl a great deal, especially when he needs someone to make difficult decisions or protect the group.

For Daryl, Rick ends up being practically a brother for whom he would give everything.

Carol: They both have something in common: they have both suffered a lot and have had to rebuild themselves as people.

Daryl can talk to Carol about things he would hardly share with others.
Their relationship is characterized by trust, affection, and a kind of silent understanding.

He can usually feel safe with her, sometimes seeking or offering comfort.

Judith Grimes: Although he is not her biological father, Daryl ends up behaving as a protective figure for her.

Connie: He also develops a special connection with Connie.
Since Connie is deaf, many of her interactions rely on gestures and nonverbal communication, something that fits quite well with Daryl because he is also not a person who needs to constantly talk to express what he feels.

Maggie: An important friend throughout the years, fighting alongside her and everyone else in situations of war or danger, she takes care of her as she takes care of all her loved ones and her family as well as her son.

The Greene farm:

Although it seems like a safe haven, there are also conflicts between the survivors and the family living there. Daryl begins to connect more with the others and becomes increasingly important to the group.

The prison:

The abandoned prison becomes one of the group's most important homes.
It's a huge place, surrounded by fences and walls that protect them from the walkers. The survivors clear parts of the prison and slowly transform it into a home.
For Daryl, this stage is important because he stops thinking only about surviving and begins to consider the group as his family.

Woodbury:

Woodbury initially seems like a perfect community: it has houses, food, electricity, security, and an organized structure.
However, behind that appearance lies a much darker side, especially because of the Governor.
For Daryl, Woodbury proves that a place that seems safe is not necessarily actually safe.

Alexandria:

Alexandria is a community protected by large walls where people try to regain a relatively normal life.
There are houses, streets, electricity, food, and a certain degree of organization. At first, Daryl feels out of place because he's used to living outdoors and surviving on his own.
Over time, however, he ends up accepting Alexandria as one of his homes.

Hilltop:

Hilltop is an agricultural community that produces food and trades with other communities.
It has a farm, houses, and a fortified area, although its security is considerably less than that of Alexandria.
Daryl spends a lot of time connected to Hilltop and its inhabitants, especially during the conflicts against the Saviors.
