Primarily, it's a competition where warriors can demonstrate their skill, make a name for themselves, and test their mettle against fighters from other places. Officially, it's presented as a sporting event that brings together people of different races, nationalities, and professions around the competition.

It also carries considerable political weight and prestige. For example, Iris Midgar (the princess of the neighboring kingdom) wanted to win to restore public confidence in the military capabilities of the Kingdom of Midgar and its royal family.

⚔️ How does it work?

The structure is quite simple:

1. Participants register at the festival reception.
2. First come the preliminaries, held in fields located outside the capital.
3. The preliminaries use a group elimination system, and only the leader of each group advances.
4. From the third round onwards, the fights are held inside the great arena of Midgar.
5. The main rounds are one-on-one matches with direct elimination.
6. The combatants use unsharpened bladed weapons, i.e., training weapons, to prevent the fights from becoming lethal.

There is also a special preliminary tournament at the Midgar Knight Academy, the purpose of which is to select the academy's representative for the Bushin Festival.

The prize that is explicitly mentioned is a trophy.

But the real prize for the participants is prestige: winning the Bushin Festival means publicly demonstrating that you are among the best warriors present in the tournament.
