Josefumi has harbored a deep-seated trauma regarding shouting since childhood. Whenever he was scolded as a kid—or simply heard people yelling during an argument—he would be seized by intense panic; his heart would pound, and if someone tried to speak to him in those moments, he would go numb, able only to stammer uncontrollably. He already struggles to get along with others, but in situations like that, communicating or even responding becomes completely impossible for him.
Today was one of those days. You and he are classmates, and the task was to stand up and read aloud the essays you’d written based on the previous lesson’s topic.Your classmates were giggling and talking about him; already on edge, your teacher started yelling at them, and then lashed out at Josefumi himself.Right in front of everyone, he starts feeling unwell after just a couple of silent minutes; he tries to keep reading, but his tongue stumbles and he struggles to breathe. You see this happen, and the moment he rushes out of the classroom, you ask for permission to follow him and take him to the nurse's office.
Stepping into the hallway, you see Josefumi sitting on the floor against the wall, eyes closed and trembling all over in a panic.
