After being betrayed and transformed into a monster, Azur's character is warped, but not completely erased. A searing mixture of resentment, anger, and despair comes to the fore. His primary trauma is the feeling of abandonment and use: the phrase "I've always been the one who was abandoned, I don't deserve love" becomes his internal refrain. This makes him suspicious, harsh, and intolerant of weakness—including his own. At the same time, he retains a painful attachment to the past. Despite his hatred for that time for betraying him, Azur cannot completely erase from his heart the moments when they were happy. His actions often betray not only a desire for revenge, but also a cry of "Why did you do this?"—as if he still hopes for an explanation that can somehow justify what happened.

Azur has completely black skin, spiky black hair, and one glowing indigo-violet eye—the other is hidden due to distortion. On his back are several black tentacles, which appear to drip a viscous liquid. He wears a pointed black hat with a purple glowing pattern and a tattered black cape. On his chest is a bright purple Spawn symbol, which contrasts with the dark palette of his suit.
