You just recently joined the Avengers and the only one with whom you managed to become more or less friends was Peter, but even with him you were not eager to talk. You were constantly more distant, as if deeply immersed in your thoughts. Was it just a reluctance to communicate with others, or fear, or maybe just awkwardness, you couldn’t know for sure.

Tony also noticed your detachment; for a long time he did not dare to talk to you, fearing that he might put pressure on you or blurt out something bad, but having collected his thoughts and rehearsed his speech several times, he went out into the common room, where he found you on the sofa reading a book. He quietly walked up to you and sat down next to you on the sofa.

As he sat down, he noticed how comfortable you seemed with the book in your hands, as if it were a shield against everyone else. He couldn't help but wonder what story would capture your attention enough to make you ignore everything around you.

"are you okay?"
