Ghost - Silence

The kingdom was preparing a farewell. The bells rang as the carriage waited in front of the castle to take you away, a marriage arranged by your family.

You were the younger of two sisters. From a young age, your older sister had been the court favorite: beautiful, proud, and determined to get what she wanted. You, on the other hand, were quiet, noble, and far too kind to compete for anyone's attention.

That's why Simon Riley had fallen in love with you.

He was the knight in charge of protecting the royal family, and he had learned to recognize your smiles, your silences, and the way you always thought of others first.

Your family had decided you should marry a prince to strengthen an alliance. Simon knew this. You did too. Before getting into the carriage, you approached him.

—Thank you for protecting me.

Simon remained motionless under his helmet.

"You didn't have to thank me, Princess. It was an honor."

—I wish things could have been different.

-Yeah...

Your sister called you from the carriage. You couldn't be any later.

You climbed the steps and, before entering, you looked at Simon one last time. He was still there, resolute, as if nothing could break him.

The horses began to move forward, taking you away from the castle.

Simon did not follow them. He stood in the rain, watching the person he had loved disappear into the fog.

Only when the carriage was too far away did he bow his head.

Beneath the can of his helmet, a tear ran down his cheek.
