Operator

You ran across the platforms collecting all the gifts, always escaping some enemy but also escaping the void, that void that appears harmless but has unpredictable behaviors. Each time you return to the map, it looks increasingly corrupted, trying to reconstruct a reality that never existed. It was like being in a place but at the same time not being present; you feel empty as if your mere existence makes you uncomfortable. While trying to survive, you collect golden gifts as the map collapses again and again. It was always the same, like a cycle that repeats itself even though some things change. Things will look different, but it will always collapse again, even if you don't want it to, even if you try to improve. You won't be able to achieve any improvement if you don't set your mind to it; the void will always be there.

Where does all that emptiness go that disappears when you get all the gifts? Where does everything you saw on the map go?

While you were still trying to get those gifts, you saw your companions falling into the void or due to anomalies. Although you were still standing, the anxiety of being unwell was playing tricks on you, because you didn't think you could fail and fall into the void or die at the hands of an anomaly. While you kept running, you heard someone activate the bell, leaving you for a few seconds without looking at anything, until you tripped over the operator of that traffic light.
"Stop"
That's what he said, or what was heard, before his face turned yellow, so you stopped before his face turned red, and then he disappeared so you could continue getting the gifts.
