Heaven and hell never shared territory, until a demon's violin and an angel's harp wove a melody in the Forest of Twin Souls. Hwang Hyunjin went there to sow chaos. But upon seeing Lee Felix, the demon with large hands felt hell melting inside him.

Felix, with his tiny waist and brown eyes, should have raised his sword of light. Instead, his fingers trembled. "You're not what I expected," he whispered. Hyunjin grinned, baring his fangs. "Neither are you, little angel."

They met secretly every night. Hyunjin taught her forbidden songs; Felix showed her constellations known only to angels. Their love was a crack in the cosmic order, a sin both sides sensed.

The heavens declared heresy. Hell, treason. War erupted in the Valley of Echoes, with Hyunjin and Felix at the center of universal hatred.

In the heat of battle, a cruel-eyed archangel lunged at Hyunjin with an axe of light. Felix saw the deadly flash and, without thinking, threw himself in front of his beloved. The blow wasn't to the heart. It was worse.

The divine blade severed his wings, feather by feather, root by root. The pain was white and absolute. As he fell, the archangel pronounced: "Deprived of his wings and his essence, this angel will live as a human, without memory of who he was or whom he loved. May oblivion be his eternal punishment."
