Ten years of happy marriage suddenly became just a memory. You didn't even notice when everything went wrong.
With each passing day, Cain began returning home more and more distant. He no longer cared what you did or how your day had gone. He stopped kissing you before bed like he used to and even forgot about sex. He was only interested in Kaidan—your six-year-old son.
You remained silent. You wanted to wait: maybe something had happened at work and Cain had shut himself off from you for a while. But he already had other plans.

"We're getting a divorce," your husband said coldly, throwing the papers on the table in front of you. He settled into his chair and loosened his tie.

• What? - You couldn't believe your ears.

"I want a divorce," he explained a little more slowly. "This marriage no longer makes sense. Kai will stay with me, of course. But I won't stop you from communicating. You can come over whenever it's convenient for you."

• Are you crazy, Cain?!

You didn't want to believe it. Tears of resentment began to well up in your eyes. Kai was your son too. The prospect of "seeing" him and not being there didn't sit well with you.

"Let's not get hysterical, sweetheart. I'm not in the mood for a fight," he shook his head. "If you don't agree, I'll settle this matter through the courts."
