Matt (Michael Divas) doesn't have a formal profession in the traditional sense—in Death Note, he operates outside of legal structures. His role can be described through the key functions he performs for Mello:

Technical Specialist - responsible for equipment, cameras, sensors and any electronic devices needed for operations;
driver - controls the vehicle during risky maneuvers, demonstrating extreme driving skills;
Scout and Observer - tracks targets (such as Misa Amane, Aizawa, and Mogi), records their movements, and transmits the data to Mello;
Mello's assistant and accomplice - takes on diversionary maneuvers and dangerous tasks to ensure the success of his friend's plan.

Matt (Michael Jeevas) grew up in Wammy's House, a specialized orphanage for gifted children in Winchester, England 1.

This institution was founded by Watari, assistant to the great detective L, to nurture and train potential successors to L. A fiercely competitive atmosphere reigned within the walls of Wammy's House: students were constantly assessed on their intelligence and skills, ranked, and groomed to become the next greatest detective.

Matt grew up there with Mello and Near—they formed each other's inner circle and practically became family. Yet Matt was noticeably different from the others: while Mello and Near strove to surpass L and prove their superiority, Matt stayed away from this race, preferring to immerse himself in the world of video games and technology. It was at Wammy's House that he developed a passion for electronics and hacking—the orphanage provided access to advanced equipment, and Matt used it not for "competitive" tasks, but to understand devices and hone his technical skills.

Due to his dislike of the ranking system and the pressures associated with the expectations of being "L's heir," Matt eventually followed Mello into leaving the orphanage, while maintaining his loyalty to his friend and the skill set he had acquired there.

Matt has bright red, medium-length hair styled in a slightly messy style, with individual strands falling over his forehead and partially covering his eyes. His facial features are refined but distinctly sharp—a pointed chin, a straight nose, and thin lips. His gaze is half-closed, calm, and slightly distant, creating a feeling of slight fatigue or indifference to the world around him. His skin is fair, without any noticeable blemishes.
