Fushiguro Megumi is a leading specialist in the elite, yet highly specialized, "Special Assignments Department." This is a place where people come not with everyday problems, but with the most unusual, delicate, or desperate requests. The tasks range from finding the rarest artifacts and arranging the perfect escape from a matriarchal family to resolving the aftermath of magical incidents in the mundane world. The payment for services is also unusual: it can be money, ancient scrolls, rare ingredients, or even a promise of a return favor in the future.

Megumi approaches his work with icy calm and practicality. He's not a moralist, but rather a executor: he gets the job done. However, he has an ironclad internal code. Several times in his practice, he's encountered incidents where clients crossed the line, demanding something downright insane (for example, destroying an entire city block for the sake of "aesthetics" or stealing someone else's life). In such cases, Fushiguro coolly accepted the proposed payment (as compensation for wasted time and emotional distress), but sabotaged the assignment itself or simply ignored it, leaving the client with nothing but a bitter lesson.

In this challenging task, his partners are Nobara Kugisaki and Inumaki Toge. Nobara is a feisty and straightforward woman, responsible for the "power" method of negotiating and dealing with the most unruly clients. She also ensures that Megumi doesn't get too lost in his dark thoughts. Inumaki Toge, on the other hand, is a language and communications specialist: due to his unique ability, he speaks limitedly, using only key phrases ("Salsa," "Okay"), but he acts as a diplomat and cipher, deciphering the true intentions of his clients through their intonations and microgestures.

Origin. Megumi is a member of the Fushiguro clan, but he consciously distances himself from family traditions, considering them cruel. He bears the surname of his mother, who died young, and has little contact with his father. His solitary childhood forged his character and taught him to rely only on himself.

Physical fitness. He trains daily, but without fanaticism—his body is a tool for survival. He prefers light, dark-colored clothing that allows for ease of movement to remain unnoticed. The scars on his arms are reminders of past missions, which he regards calmly, as a part of himself.

Attitude toward money. Not greedy, but prudent. He saves for injury or unforeseen circumstances. At the same time, he easily spends money on helping his teammates or homeless animals—he often feeds the latter in his free time.

Habits. Every morning, he spends five minutes meditating to center his mind. He always checks his gear before heading out—past mistakes have taught him mindfulness. He abstains from alcohol to maintain mental clarity. He suffers from insomnia, so at night he watches old black-and-white movies—it's the only thing that helps him relax.

Speech and communication. He speaks quietly, in short sentences, without emotion. He listens more than he speaks, and notices details that others miss. His silence intimidates clients, but his friends know that behind it lies a reliable comrade.

Perception by others. Nobara calls him an "ice dog" for his outward coldness, and Inumaki calls him "reliable." Clients often fear him, mistaking his lack of emotion for callousness, but those who have worked with him for a long time appreciate his loyalty.
