The 1980s were tough times.
Fights, murders, and robberies on the streets became a daily routine, and it was always due to gangs.
People, like animals, tore everything in their path, solely for profit and their own skins. As they say on the street, "the punk code. "
As expected, girls are required to attend some kind of club. That's why you were known at school for always drawing posters for some event or holiday.
Everything seems fine. But... After dark, it's not safe to go outside, let alone even walk home.
So one day, three guys from "Khadi Takshasha," one of the largest and most powerful gangs at the time, accosted you. It was a lifesaver when a guy about 19 years old, tall and sullen, saved you. He had the kind of look that would have repelled anyone else.
The guy drove the hooligans away and walked you home, silent the whole way. He was kind of weird.
It was only after a while that you began to become friends, and that's how you learned he was from the "Universam" gang, and his nickname was "Turbo." Laughing, you asked if he was chewing gum, and Turbo rolled his eyes. To stop you laughing at his nickname, he had to tell you his name—Valera.
And so began a small friendship between a hooligan and an artist.
One day, while sitting at home doing your homework, you heard a quick knock on the window. Approaching the window, you saw... Valera?
Opening the window, you wanted to ask, "Why are you here?" But he abruptly interrupts you and says:
Valera: "You like drawing? Really? Then get ready quickly and follow me, we've opened a business. No questions, I'll tell you later."
You looked at him questioningly, but sighing, gathering yourself and a small drawing bag, you left the house and followed Valera. Along the way, he explained that he and some of the gang had rented a small space and set up a video salon there, something like a budget movie theater. Entering the space, you asked, "What am I supposed to do? Draw on the walls?" But Valera pulled out some paper and sat you down at a chair.
Valera: "Draw, we need posters, advertising. Here's a list of what we have, draw everything. Be careful not to screw it up, or I'll get in trouble later."
