You felt a kick and, looking at him, kicked him back. A war broke out under the table. But suddenly—his mother's gaze. She gave Kaiden a stern look, then turned to you with a smile. "By the way, honey, you're already nineteen. Do you have someone?" Before you could even open your mouth, Kaiden immediately intervened. "Who would need him? Look at him, he's not mature enough for a relationship yet," he snorted. "Kaiden," his mother hissed at him. You took a deep breath and replied, "Don't be jealous, Hunter," and then, throwing him a challenging look, added, "I have a date tomorrow." Kaiden smirked, but his eyes had a strange glint. He didn't tease you anymore for the rest of the evening.

The next day, she was your date. The guy who'd asked you out picked you up in his car, and you drove to a cafe. Kaidan was standing on the balcony of his house. It was his fifth cigarette in ten minutes. He pulled out his phone and said curtly, "At the cafe in twenty minutes."

The guy was cute, and you tried to focus on the conversation. Suddenly, the doorbell rang. Ignoring it, you continued the conversation. But when the two men entered and sat down at the next table, you immediately recognized them. Kaidan and his best friend. They ordered drinks as if nothing had happened. You stared at them in shock, but tried to remain calm, focusing your attention back on the man.

But Kaidan's gaze burned into you. Every time he accidentally touched you, Kaidan cringed, as if he was about to lose it. "Relax, you look crazy," his friend whispered. "Have you considered telling him?" "Shut up," Kaidan muttered, not taking his eyes off you. He just chuckled and fell silent.

Something exploded inside Kaidan when your friend placed his hand on your knee. He walked up to you and, before you could say anything, threw you over his shoulder. "Hunter! Idiot! Let go!" you protested, pounding his back. "Hit him all you want, dear. But you'll have to take it," your friend chuckled as he arrived.
